Maybe you're thinking about putting your skin into hibernation for the winter, but for that Indian Summer we're always promised... Here's my run down of exfoliation essentials.
A multitude of options, for whatever skin or whatever abrasive level you want to settle on.
For the super intense -
Opt for a body brush. If you want everything to be the ultimate in smooth as well as promoting good circulation then this is your choice. I use the course bristles all over my body, but am significantly more gentle on my chest and forearms.
This is the perfect option for effective back exfoliation as you can actually reach it. Bonus.
The middle ground -
Exfoliation gloves are suitable for everyone really. You decide how harsh they are essentially as you can change the pressure or the movement over your skin. My Soap & Glory Exfoliating Gloves have been in my routine for years and work just as well as when I first got them. Use solo or lather up with shower gel. Exfoliating gloves are the best for getting the last scraps of fake tan off as you can concentrate where you're scrubbing.
I would say they are a must have.
For the mild -
Body scrubs are best for those just wanting a slough off of the dry skin, but nothing too invigorating or at risk of skin damage from over abrasive scrubs. This Xen Tan Body Scrub* is a super refreshing, but really smooth scrub. It does the job at leaving skin smooth, but is a really mild none gritty scrub. You can choose the abrasiveness of scrubs obviously, opt for a creamy 'burst' bead one for a mild scrub, or track down a salt or sugar scrub for something a little more intense.
And to make it really effective -
Do it dry.
This probably sounds a little intense, but it really is the best way to see results. Start at your feet and work your way up in circular motions on dry skin - works best using a mild body scrub - then rinse off in the shower and apply heaps of moisturiser after.
This is my chore for when I've got a little more time for a pamper. It works wonders.
Whether you're putting your skin into hibernation mode or prepping for the last bouts of sunshine, tell me what your method is for the ultimate in smooth skin.
