So adorably clueless

After buying this sheer shirt from New Look in late December, I've struggled to think how to wear it. So, a month later I finally threw an outfit at it and for once, I was quite impressed with what came out.
Insert grainy web cam pics, surprisingly better quality than usual;

An overexposed close up off the lace and collar.

Accessories & chipped nails.

Sheer shirt - New Look
Cream jumper - Zara
Black skinnies - Miss Selfridge
Oval ring - Primark, Edged ring - ASOS, Heart ring - H&M
Pumps - Topshop
Nails - 17 'peacock'

Title inspiration comes from Clueless, in the PE scene, where Cher is wearing a long tshirt with a cropped vest over the top - wasn't inspired by that outfit, but it definitely reminded me of it. Sooo want to watch that right now.

Verdict: Pictures speak a thousand words

I have a confession to make. Blogs that are huge paragraphs of writing and gorgeous pictures generally only get a quick scroll through and I'll ignore the writing. Even worse is the ones with no pictures, unless I'm actually interested in the person or discussing the subject, then I generally will 'x' out ayy sap.

With my following of fashion blogs (along with the increasing amount that seem to be popping it up) it has become custom to write a personal update along with outfit of the day posts, a few paragraphs that I would have usually ignored are holding my attention and I'm getting to know the people behind the clothes.

It is fact that we read 75% slower online than we do in magazines or papers, so while a full page in Elle magazine could be read with ease, the same amount online may leave us uninterested considerably sooner. It's no wonder that the summary posts littering beauty blogs are interspersed with Tumblr pictures in order to keep the reader interested.

Of course, with every verdict post, I now want to know your thoughts. There's no need to hide away, after all, sites like We Heart It were basically said up to remove all personal opinions by way of writing.
There are now blogspot bloggers, only posting photo updates or various collections or fashion shoots which makes for easy 'reading' when I have time for a quick browse.

So, are you an avid reader of every word or are you only interested in pretty pictures?

Leopard Tips

Last week, Fee tweeted her newest nail art. I was inspired and set to recreating it, by laptop light I must add. Yes, the following nail art was done only with the light emitted from the laptop, and you think nail art is tricky normally?

The inspiration;

Taken from the original tweet in question.

And my recreation;

I love it.
It was surprisingly easy. Fee used a liquid liner with a felt tip nib to create the leopard print, but after realising my Bourjois liner was probably months past its best, I moved on to the Model's Own nail art pen. I've never been able to use that in the monthish that I've owned it, but for some reason it just worked last night. This was all applied over the top of Nails Inc 'London' (the Diet Coke nude) and of course began and finished with the Nails Inc genius - see previous post.

If you have any other simple nail art like this, please leave a link in the comments, I'm all for branching out a little!

Nails Inc Base & Top Coat

I think I've found the top coat to top all top coats. You won't be looking twice at your Seche Vite any time soon.
My New Years nails were sealed for 7 days and were still in the acceptable chipped stage at the end, not sure about you, but this isn't all that common from a top coat, even Seche Vite in my case.

The wonder products in question are from Nails Inc. It's never normally a brand I purchase because of the association with magazine freebies, it's lost its status. However, another stocking filler from mother meant I've found a new favourite.

Barry M's 'Indigo' was applied on the 30th December, all set for New Years Eve, a week later, it was still there and with getting bored of the colour, I removed it.
This is how it looked on the seventh day;

Not bad right? I was impressed anyway, I was showing it off to anyone who would look.
The A&E base coat dries to a gloss finish unlike a lot of other bases I've used, but it doesn't stop the colour gripping to it.
The Albert Bridge topcoat dries to a high gloss finish which complemented the 'indigo' shade beautifully. Application was easy and problem free.

These were in a duo set, but I've seen both out for individual sale. You can get the set for just £10.21 at Boots, which is great considering a normal Nails Inc polish will cost £12 alone. You get 8ml compared with the regular sized 12ml pots, but it's more than enough to potentially last through the year.
That's 52 weeks of perfect manicures at home - sold.

New Season Temptations

So I never ever do this, but after quickly getting bored with the sales (is it just me that was seriously underwhelmed this year?) I had a browse of the 'new in' tabs on various websites. I seem to have developed a serious lust for clothes recently and things out of my comfort zone have caught my eye.

Here are my top picks from Topshop & River Islands new season.

Topshop

1-2-3-4-5
The jewellery has particularly caught my eye, I love the various wire wrapped gems that are on the racks at the moment, whether rings or necklaces, there is a colour to go with any outfit. The aztec print vest would be great to throw on over a bikini, especially if I get that trip to Malta I'm researching.

River Island

1-2-3-4-5

The winter print scarves are something I missed over the cold snap, I had my eye on a Hollister one, but never got my hands on it. Sheer shirts are continuously drawing me in, I've begun my collection with one from the River Island sale and the second, a surprise find at New Look, I can see these being around through into summer.

The new in tabs are the most attractive part of the sites while the sales are on, I'm hoping they won't keep bringing out gems like those I've mentioned - I'm not sure my purse can handle it.

Verdict: Is High End Worth It?

There seems to be a certain stigma attached to 'names'.
In terms of make up, I seem to get more pleasure out of using the MACs, Benefits and Cliniques in my collection, despite some of my all time favourite products being from Rimmel and Maybelline. I take care of my high end products, wastage is minimal and annoying if it happens, whereas I'll fritter away the 'drug store' products, messing about and playing with them more.

With this in mind, it's made me wonder why it all is? Yes, you are putting down a hefty sum on these products, but as I take care of them and use them sparingly it's worth it. So that can't be the reason why they mean so much. When you really think about the cost - as laid out in Abbie's most recent tag - it's when you start comparing it to what you could be buying, that would last a whole lot longer than the must have lip colour.

I'm in the market for a few new make up needs and I'm thinking of going high end for all of them, comparing their use with my usual £5 tinted moisturiser that has never been out of my collection. Is it really worth dropping £20 on a cream that does the same as the cheaper version? The pleasure of using it makes me think it is.

All images lovingly taken from various Tumblr accounts.

For the most, I think every make up user mixes their collection, they have favourites from NARS and are obsessed with the newest Sleek products, so what's it like in your collection?
Do you relish in the pleasure of the high end use? Or feel it's a chore but worth it dropping a little extra on your favourite products?

All in all, this is a battle.
Pleasure in luxury vs the easily accessible usual.

Any falsies fans about?

I'm sure enough of you are aware of The Beauty Sanctum but just in case you're not, her and a couple of friends have set up an online store in the false eyelash business to run along their course at University.
Styleyes Lashes has four sets of lashes, each retailing at £5 for a set of ten - can anyone say bargain? They have taken inspiration from different celebs, so you can go natural a la Katy Perry, just to play out with falsies, or go all out with Frankie lashes to get the full affect.

Frankie Sandford lashes
EDIT- Milkteef just featured these lashes in her latest outfit post.

Cheryl Cole lashes

Rihanna lashes

Katy Perry lashes

The aim is to keep Styleyes Lashes open until July (I think) so the more orders the better! Show your support! Plus, with ten separate sets for just a fiver, you haven't got much to lose really have you?
They also have a Facebook page which you can give a 'like' to or follow Styleyes on Twitter and leave your feedback for your order.

So, are you going to be taking advantage of this great bargain? I hope I've appealed to some falsie fans out there!
