Foundation Routine

The reason behind me posting this, is the fact I've quite literally never seen my foundation look as good. It's a step in my routine that I enjoy doing and I think it's because of the finish that is achieved. Granted, my skin has been very well behaved recently, but I think that's because of my skincare routine, which has been vigilant of recent, and really paying off.

There were no pictures that captured the finish well so I left any face pictures out... I'm guessing you'll all still get what's going on.

The products used;

  • No 7 'Quick Cover' concealer, '02 Extra Fair
    Grab it now while there's £5 off vouchers!
  • Garnier Under Eye roll on
  • Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid 'Ivory 010'
    Onto my second bottle of this. The 'holy grail' of foundations.
  • MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural 'Light'
The brushes used;

  • Sigma SS188
  • Sephora #43 contour blush/bronzer
  • Primark Kabuki
The No7 concealer is the base, I cover any redness, blemishes, and around my nose, straight from the stick, then blend it out with my fingers. This is followed by the Garnier Roll On under the eyes, which again, is blended out with my fingers, if I'm doing a very natural eye, I'll blend it onto the eyelid as well.

I then take two pumps of the Dream Satin Liquid and stipple it on the back of my hand with the Sigma brush, this allows the product to be distributed over the brush much more evenly.

I stipple it onto my face, trying to cover as much area as possible with one brush full, until I'm left with a lovely leopard printed face (if you try this method.. you might just know what I mean). Then, with the Sephora brush, blend it out, bringing some over the jaw line and making sure there aren't any defined lines at the hair line or edge of the face.
This usually leaves me with a great dewy glow to my skin, which isn't compromised if I decide to buff over my Mineralize Skin Finish, with the Primark Kabuki as a finisher. Sometimes I skip the last step, particularly if I'm not going to be doing a lot with my day.

I've loved how this had made my skin look and it's led to the Sigma brush becoming one of my favourites, but I'd like to try the larger size, to make it easier to stipple the product over my face.
This one is great for blush, particularly really pigmented or crazy coloured blush, as it picks up just the right amount of product leading to no more crazy cheeks.

As a final note, can you give me some foundation recommendations?

I'm just about out of the one I'm using, and although I love it, would like to try something new. I'm a little hesitant of PhotoReady, because while it sounds great on paper, I'm not a fan of the shimmer.
I'm looking for a high street brand, so not MAC or NARS, as I just don't want to spend much more than £10 on a foundation.
Ideally looking for, good coverage but feels light on the skin & i'm fair - so need a good light colour!
Any thoughts?

    Ive been using second skin by maxfactor the lightest one.

    I love this, gives good coverage and last a long time. Doesnt feel to heavy on my skin either.

    Im pretty pale and this foundation is just about right but if your pretty fair it may be too dark so i would test it in store 1st!

  6. Love the new blog look missy! My fave liquid foundation at the moment is Barbara Daly for Tesco haha, it's cheap and amazing. I use Bare Minerals most of the time though and steer away from liquid for some reason. xxx

  8. I have the second skin Max Factor foundation in the lightest shade and it is AMAZING! I also really like Benefit Non-fiction in Volume 1 but I don't know if they still do it. Dream Creamy Maybelline is also worth a look :)
